The Wessex tractor hedge cutter proves advantageous for trimming hedges, branches, and vegetation along narrow roads, embankments, and rural lanes. Boasting blades extending up to 5M, these flail hedge cutters, fit compact tractors ranging from 15Hp to 70Hp. The feature blades with optional cutting widths offer a significant reach for trimming tall vegetation.
Wessex Tractor Hedge Cutter Models
Wessex tractor hedge cutters offer two types within the range:
Sickle cutter bar.
Rotary swing tip blades.
Sickle Bar Hedge Cutter
The Sickle bar cutter is suitable for medium to light hedge cutting and compact tractors from as little as 15HP (horsepower). Ideally, it is recommended to use tractors up to 40HP for enhanced performance. The Wessex CHT-120 sickle bar hedge cutter is perfect for cutting hedgerows, roadside vegetation, and small trees, ideal for compact tractors of 15HP or more. This machine features a reversible frame, to work either on the left or right side of the tractor, and a 120cm cutting bar.
Rotary Swing Tip Blades Hedge Cutter
The Wessex CHT-100 rotary hedge cutter works on both sides of the tractor and can reach up to 5M, perfect for tall vegetation. This hydraulically driven rotary 18-bladed attachment can cut branches up to 3cm thick, and shred hedges and shrubs effectively.
Rotary triple head cutters need a medium-sized tractor with 40 to 50HP. They require more power to rotate the heavy-duty cutting discs with 6 swing-tip blades. They also need a counterbalancing effect due to their heavier weight and size compared to a sickle bar cutter. Their cutting head style is ideal for a cleaner, neater cut of hedge vegetation.

CHT120 Hedge Cutter

CHT100 Model
- 1.0M triple head rotary disc cutter heads, each with 6 swing tip cutting blades.
- Tractor HP range – 40 to 50HP.
- It can be supplied with either, cable or joystick controls.

A minimum of 15HP is required, however it does operate better the higher the HP of your tractor (up to 40HP).

Both do a good job and it really boils down down what you are cutting, the horsepower of your tractor.
The rotary cutter have more caperbility and give a cleaner cut but they do require a bigger and more powerful tractor.
Also cutting heights (vertically and horizontally) vary between the two types.Â
