When the bale is loaded, it is crucial not to unhitch the trailer from the vehicle, as the unit will be tail-heavy and the drawbar will rise if unhitched. The correct method is to lower the bale fully before unhitching.
When fitted with poles and handling round bales, or spikes for moving Heston bales, this trailer will transport up to 750kg with a suitable towing vehicle! Some lighter ATVs may need ballast weight on the rear rack to counterbalance, but most work okay.

Fresh Towable ATV Bale Trailer
This trailer can lift and transport full-size wrapped round bales without piercing the plastic cover (use the round poles setup). This protective feature ensures the haylage remains in good condition. Ideally, tow with an ATV farm quad bike, UTV (Utility Vehicle), or even a 4WD pick-up truck.Â
This round bale transporter can also come equipped with spikes for handling square Heston bales up to 750kg. This weight is dependent on the spec of the towing vehicle. By using the poles in a specific position a single person can easily tip over the bale.

No. In short it would be massively overloaded and therefore unsafe to do so lifting the rear of the ride-on mower. Best to use, either a suitable ATV, UTV or even a motor vehicle.
We do offer kevlar lined tyres as an optional upgrade, which all but eliminates the risk of punctures but this is not 100% full proof!
Depending on who you speak to and what types of bales you are handling the answer varies!
There is a strong arguement that storing the bales on their rolling edge is better than on their end (like a coke can). The reason being that if the birds peck through the round edge only a small part of the bales is at risk of mould and mildew and it can easily be cut out when you come to use the the round bale, when compared to a bale that is istood on its end the birds can peck many holes and the water and air can cause a lot more harm resulting in more mould and mildew damage that would penetrate “into the core of the bale”.
So the way most people do it is to manually push it over. However, this is hard work! Probably the best solution (provided you have a winch on your towing vehicle) is to use the winch and a sling (or similar) to pull it over on its end.
